Tigers finish strong against Kokomo

Fishers scored a comeback victory in its season opener Monday, beating Kokomo 6-3.
After absorbing three Wildkat runs in the first inning, the Tigers got on the board in the bottom of the fourth when Caroline Bernhardt singled home Jade Frye. In the fifth inning, Brooke Benson hit a sacrifice fly with no outs to send Courtney James in to score.
Fishers was now within 3-2, and it took the lead with a two-out rally in the sixth. Olivia Stinson’s single got Nyah Duplessis home and tied the game. Stenson and James (who reached on a walk) were scored by a Benson double, giving the Tigers the lead. Mays came up and hit her own double to score Benson. Fishers then took care of Kokomo three up, three down to clinch the win.
Stinson, Benson and Mays all finished the game with two hits. Mays also pitched a complete game, with five strikeouts.
The Tigers next play at Lawrence Central on Wednesday.
