Tigers finish regular season with HCC win

Fishers completed its regular and Hoosier Crossroads Conference season on Friday, coming back to beat Franklin Central 63-54 at the Tiger Den.
The Class 4A No. 7 Tigers trailed the Flashes 18-11 after the first quarter, but came blasting back in the second period, scoring 25 points to take a 36-28 halftime lead. Seven different Fishers players scored during that quarter, led by Olivia Smith’s six points.
The Tigers maintained their lead in the third quarter, which finished with Fishers up 48-40. Free-throw shooting was key during that period, with the Tigers making 5 of 6 from the line. Fishers then held on to the lead in a tight fourth quarter; Katie Burton scored 10 points to help the Tigers seal the victory.
Burton totaled 21 points for the game; she scored six points in the first period. Smith totaled 12 points and Audra Emmerson added nine points.
Fishers finished HCC play with a 5-2 record and tied with Noblesville for second place in the conference. The Tigers are 16-4 overall and play Westfield Tuesday night in the first round of the Zionsville sectional.
