Tigers fall in state semifinals

The Fishers boys volleyball team played in the inaugural IHSAA state finals last Saturday at Purdue University’s Mackey Arena, falling to eventual state champion Roncalli in a five-set semifinal.

The Royals edged out the Tigers 22-25, 25-14, 25-21, 17-25, 16-14. Nate Fitzwater led Fishers’ offense with 28 kills, with Ethan Luenemann hitting 10 kills and serving two aces. JT Guler dished out 49 assists and collected 27 digs.

Ian Pifer made 21 digs. Guler had seven block assists, followed by five for Collin Miller and Luenemann, who also made two solo blocks.

Fishers finished its season with a 31-5 record.
