Tigers cruise to first win of season

The Fishers girls basketball team began its season Wednesday with a 48-29 victory at Ben Davis.

The Tigers, who are ranked No. 8 in the IBCA’s pre-season poll, played to a 12-12 tie with the Giants in the first quarter. Senior Nevaeh Dickman scored seven points in that opening period. Fishers rolled to a 29-22 halftime lead, with freshman Riley Schellhammer pouring in nine points, including a 3-pointer.

The Tigers then cruised through the second half, allowing Ben Davis only seven points. Senior Allison Scheu scored seven in the third quarter.

Dickman led the scoring with 18 points, followed by Schellhammer with 14 and Scheu with 12.

Fishers plays its first home game on Saturday, welcoming No. 5 Center Grove to the Tiger Den for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
