The Fishers wrestling team mounted a big comeback at North Central Wednesday night before falling just short, 38-36 in a dual meet.
The Panthers got out to a 16-0 start before Tyler Lindamood and Josh Reardon got back-to-back pins to bring the Tigers to within 16-12. Mason McCartney got a second-period fall at 170 pounds, then No. 14-ranked JD Farrell’s decision win at 182 put Fishers in the lead for the first time at 21-20.
North Central made three straight pins to go up 38-21. PJ Pritchett started the Tigers’ rally with a fall at 106 pounds, then Zach Strueder received a forfeit at 113, making the score 38-33. Dylan Parodi won the final match of the night (120 pounds) 9-2.
Fishers coach Frank Ingalls said his team all went out and competed well, and will just try to do better next time.
The Tigers will next wrestle at the Hoosier Crossroads Conference meet, which is scheduled for Friday at Avon.
