Thomas Albert Ferguson, 81, of Lapel, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2017 at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital following a brief illness.
He was born on September 30, 1935, in DuBois, Pennsylvania, to Perry A. and Hattie M. (Dent) Ferguson.
Tom graduated from DuBois High School in 1954. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Infantry 3rd Division and served in Germany, and retired from Brockway Glass in 2001 with 45 years of service in maintenance. He was an avid bowler, bowled 35 consecutive years in the Nationals, inducted into the Anderson Bowling Hall of Fame, and served on the bowling association for many years. He made all the trophies for the Special Bowlers League. Tom was a lifelong member of the Anderson Fraternal Order of Eagles 174.
Tom is survived by his wife of 58 years, Peg (Johnson) Ferguson; one daughter, Tammy (Ferguson) Blake of Anderson; two grandsons, Christopher Blake of Anderson and Devon Yusnukis of Lapel; two brothers, Perry (wife, Bernie) Ferguson of Hermitage, Pennsylvania and Ron (wife, Beverly) Ferguson of DuBois, Pennsylvania; one brother-in-law, Robert Johnson of Brockport, Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service was held on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, Lapel, with Rev. Larry Bigham officiating. Burial will follow in Brockway, Pennsylvania at a later date.
Visitation was Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home.
