Carmel to hold Veterans ceremony on Thursday

The public is invited to the City of Carmel’s free Veterans Day Ceremony. The event will begin at noon on Thursday, Nov. 10 in the Tarkington Theater at the Center for the Performing Arts, 3 Carter Green.

Participants include:

  • Mayor Jim Brainard
  • Keynote speaker: Retired Lt. Colonel, Justin Crocker, Carmel resident and business owner
  • Carmel Clay Schools Superintendent Dr. Michael Beresford
  • Carmel VFW Post 10003 Honor Guard
  • Carmel Fire Department Pipes and Drums
  • Carmel Fire Department First Class/Master Firefighter, retired, Steven Holubik

The ceremony will feature performances by Cherry Tree Elementary School Choir, Claire Baney and Cynthia Ensign Baney, and Actors Theatre of Indiana.

The city-wide “Saluting Our Heroes” poster and essay contest winners will be recognized. Winning posters will be displayed, and students will read their winning essays during the ceremony.


Fishers invites you to honor Vets on Friday

On Friday, Nov. 11, the City of Fishers and the Fishers Armed Services Commission invite residents to a Veterans Day Ceremony at 10 a.m. at Knowledge Services, 9800 Crosspoint Blvd., Indianapolis. That’s at the former Marsh Headquarters along Interstate 69.

This year’s guest speaker is MG Richard Chegar, U.S. Army (ret.). General Chegar graduated from West Point in 1962. Following Infantry, Airborne and Ranger training, he served with the 173rd Airborne Brigade in Okinawa and Vietnam. During his career, he was decorated for valor and distinguished service. In retirement, he has served as CEO of the Patton Museum Foundation at Fort Knox and has been inducted into the Indiana Military Veterans Hall of Fame.

This ceremony is free and open to the public. A live stream will be provided on the Fishers Magazine Facebook page.


First UMC of Noblesville will hold special Sunday service

First Presbyterian Church of Noblesville will hold a special Veterans Day service at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 13.

All veterans and their families are invited to celebrate. The service will include patriotic music and a special guest speaker, Chaplain Samuel Cabrera from Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis.
