Westfield’s girls tennis team won a big event last Saturday, and followed it up Tuesday with a conference win.
The Shamrocks took home first place at the Delta Invite last Saturday. The Shamrocks beat the host Eagles 4-1 in the first round, then defeated Brown County 4-1 in the second round before falling in a close third round to West Lafayette 3-2. Westfield won by virtue of having the most court wins of the tournament.
The ‘Rocks took on Hamilton Southeastern Tuesday in a Hoosier Crossroads Conference meet, and were 4-1 winners. Westfield swept the singles matches, with No. 1 Juliette Grilliot a 6-3, 6-2 winner, No. 2 Alana Raymond cruising to a 6-3, 6-0 victory, and No. 3 Addi Kooi winning 6-1, 6-0.
In doubles, No. 2 Chloe Carlson and Bri Saylor were victorious 6-4, 6-1, while No. 1 Jenna Berry and Carlie Lukowiak dropped a tough match 6-2, 6-4.
The Shamrocks are 3-0 in conference play and 5-1 for the season.
