The Hamilton Southeastern girls tennis team, ranked No. 13 in the state, won a tough dual meet over No. 14 North Central Wednesday 3-2 in the Royals’ last home dual of the season.
No. 1 singles Taylor Wolff got things started, winning her match 6-1, 6-2. Southeastern got its other two points by winning three-set matches: No. 3 Meghan Slaninka pulled out a 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 victory, then No. 1 doubles Misha Bukkasagaram and Emily Orme were 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 winners.
“This is a solid win over a solid team,” said Royals coach Doug Gernert.
Southeastern is back in action today when it travels to Franklin Central for the Hoosier Crossroads Conference tournament.
Westfield, ranked No. 8, played at Franklin Central Wednesday for the last HCC dual meet before the conference tournament.
The Shamrocks won 5-0, dropping only 10 games in the five matches. No. 1 singles Isabella Norris was a 6-0, 6-1 winner, No. 2 Alana Raymond won 6-1, 6-0 and No. 3 singles Addi Kooi was victorious 6-1, 6-2. In doubles, No. 1 Lauren Hammond and Emma Schwind triumphed 6-1, 6-3 and No. 2 Brooke Rodgers and Chloe Carlson won 6-1, 6-0.
Westfield is 9-2 and travels back to Franklin Central today for the HCC tournament.
Top-ranked Carmel breezed past No. 4 Park Tudor 5-0 in a Wednesday dual meet at the Todd Witsken Tennis Center.
The Greyhounds will host No. 25 Center Grove on Friday.
