The Hamilton Southeastern girls tennis team won the Delta Invitational on Saturday.
The No. 13-ranked Royals beat Yorktown, Fort Wayne Carroll and No. 22 Delta 4-1 in each match. No. 2 singles Emma Bieberich and No. 3 singles Meghan Slaninka both went undefeated, as did No. 1 doubles Misha Bukkasagaram and Emily Orme and No. 2 doubles Kaylee Etheredge and Novelle Lee.
“All in all a good day on the courts as all the girls really started to play up to top form,” said Southeastern coach Doug Gernert.
The Royals followed up that win with two Hoosier Crossroads Conference dual meet victories early this week.
On Monday, Southeastern beat No. 19 Brownsburg on the road 4-1. Bieberich won the first point easily, 6-0, 6-0, then No. 2 doubles Maya Wetzel and Lee cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 victory. No. 1 singles Taylor Wolf won 6-4, 7-5, while Slaninka came back to win at No. 3 singles 3-6, 6-1, 6-4.
The Royals followed that up on Tuesday with a 3-2 home win over No. 17 Avon. Slaninka picked up a 6-1, 6-1 victory, Bukkasagaram and Orme sailed to a 6-1, 6-1 win and Etheredge and Lee triumphed 6-3, 6-3.
“All in all we played very well and are all set to see what we can do in the conference tournament this weekend,” said Gernert.
Southeastern plays No. 14 North Central today.
No. 7 Fishers beat No. 8 Westfield 4-1 in a Monday all-county and HCC meet.
The Tigers got wins from No. 1 singles Mischa Briggs 6-0, 6-2, No. 3 singles Caroline Ober 6-1, 6-0, No. 1 doubles Cassie Maurer and Kirah Fuller 6-2, 6-0 and No. 2 doubles Maddie Barron and Meredith Ober 6-2, 6-4.
No. 2 singles Alana Raymond won her match 3-2 (default) for the Shamrocks’ victory.
Fishers hosts No. 5 Zionsville at 5:30 p.m. this afternoon.
No. 15 Noblesville swept Franklin Central 5-0 on the road in a Monday HCC contest.
The Millers won all five matches in straight sets. In singles, No. 2 Allie Stamm won 6-0, 6-0, while No. 1 Bella Duncan and No. 3 Josie Flinchum were both victorious 6-0, 6-1. In doubles, No. 1 Alli Maskew and Lina Hamashuk were 6-3, 6-3 winners and No. 2 Sierra Leach and Cami Crist triumphed 6-2, 6-1.
No. 1 Carmel swept Zionsville 5-0 in a Monday meet, then fell to Sacred Heart Academy from Louisville 3-2 in a Tuesday meet at the University of Indianapolis.
The Greyhounds host No. 4 Park Tudor at 5 p.m. today at the Todd Witsken Tennis Center.
