Tennis: Noblesville wins all-county dual meet

The Noblesville boys tennis team beat University 5-0 in an all-county dual meet at the Trailblazers’ courts.
The Millers won all five matches in straight sets. Noblesville hosts No. 21 Cathedral this afternoon.

No. 1 singles: Noah Bushong def. Dillon Blake 6-0, 6-0
No. 2 singles: Michael Kurkover def. Derrick Brown 6-1, 6-1
No. 3 singles: Zach Greer def. Hunter Maxwell 6-0, 6-0
No. 1 doubles: Josh Middleton and Evan Voigt def. Matt Hurley and Jace Wilson 6-0, 6-0
No. 2 doubles: Will Graham and Jonathan Maskew def. Tyler Galyean and Jacob Lange 6-1, 6-0

Hamilton Southeastern, the No. 14-ranked team in the state, lost a close match to Cathedral 3-2 on Wednesday.
The Royals got both of their wins in the doubles matches. The No. 1 team of senior Daniel Verde and Andrew Spirrison won 6-3, 6-1, making 15 volley/overhead winners. The No. 2 team of seniors Logan Hubbard and Jackson Bill were victorious 6-2, 6-0, with a combined eight overhead winners.
It was Senior Night and three Southeastern junior varsity seniors also got wins, Teddy Houseman, Sean Theirion De Monclin and Mario Dela Pena.
“It was disappointing to lose the match tonight, but was good to see our three senior varsity players pick up wins on Senior Night,” said Royals coach Kirk Webber. “And our JV seniors (Teddy, Sean, and Mario) also picked up wins. So that was a special way to end Senior Night. This is a great group of seniors and it was very enjoyable to honor them and their families tonight.”
Southeastern is 8-7 and hosts Park Tudor Monday in its final regular-season match.

Guerin Catholic, ranked No. 30, also dropped a close Wednesday match, to No. 11 Zionsville 3-2 in its regular-season finale.
Freshman John Tiplick won the No. 3 singles match 6-4 in the third set after two and a half hours. The Golden Eagles’ other point came from No. 1 doubles Cole Metzger and Ty Harrington.
Guerin Catholic finished the regular season 7-9 and heads to the Carmel sectional Wednesday at the Todd Witsken Tennis Center.
