Tennis: Four county teams having good week

In a Wednesday all-county match, No. 6-ranked Noblesville edged out No. 24 Guerin Catholic 3-2 at the Golden Eagles’ courts.

The Millers got wins from No. 1 singles Bella Duncan 6-0, 6-1, No. 3 singles Josie Flinchum 6-2, 6-2 and No. 1 doubles Lina Hamashuk and Cami Crist 6-1, 6-1. Guerin Catholic’s wins came from No. 2 Anna Kolb 7-6, 6-3 and No. 2 doubles Lauryn Reifel and Ella Hood 6-4, 7-5.

The Westfield tennis team got two wins to start the week.

On Monday, the No. 11 Shamrocks beat Heritage Christian 5-0. No. 3 singles Addi Kooi and No. 2 doubles Chloe Carlson and Bri Saylor both won their matches 6-0, 6-0. No. 1 singles Juliette Grilliot was a 6-1, 6-1 winner, No. 2 singles Alana Raymond was victorious 6-1, 6-0 and No. 1 doubles Olivia Krauss and Jenna Berry won 6-2, 6-0.

Westfield beat University 3-2 on Tuesday. Kooi won her match 6-2, 6-3, with Krauss and Berry victorious 6-3, 6-1 and Saylor and Carlson winning 6-3, 6-2.

Carmel, the top-ranked team in the state, beat three ranked opponents over the past week.

The Greyhounds beat No. 14 Center Grove 4-1 last Friday, then edged out No. 12 Columbus North Monday 3-2 in a match played at Perry Meridian. Carmel finished the stretch Wednesday with a 5-0 win over No. 13 Hamilton Southeastern.

Hamilton Heights beat Tipton 3-2 on Wednesday.

The Huskies got wins from all three of its singles players, No. 1 Samantha Burk, No. 2 Evie Maiden and No. 3 Natalie Garcia.

On Tuesday, Heights fell to Lapel 4-1. Meredith Dodson and Taylor Harley won the No. 2 doubles match, 6-3, 2-6, 10-2.
