Tara Holder, Hamilton Heights senior, has signed a letter of intent to swim for DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana this fall. DePauw is a member of the North Coast Athletic Conference and a NCAA Division III athletic institution. She is the daughter of Amy and Ric Holder.
Holder, who plans to major in biology, chose DePauw because of the welcoming campus and the opportunities to prepare her for success for advanced study in the field of dentistry. Her long-term goal is to become a dentist. Holder is a four-member of the Hamilton Heights swim team and has participated in Power Aquatics and Noblesville Swim Club for over a decade.
A strong student athlete, Holder is among Hamilton Heights academic Top 10 percent, a member of the National Honor Society and received the Rising Stars Class of 2021 Award and English Department Award her junior year. She was named to the Academic All-Conference team, is a Varsity Swim Captain, a 13-time conference winner, named team MVP her junior and senior swim seasons, earned the Mental Attitude Award as a sophomore, and is a member of the Student Athletic Leadership Team.
“Tara has been dedicated and totally committed to swimming for a long time,” said Kurt Ogden, Hamilton Heights Athletic Director. “Her passion for swimming has driven and motivated her over the past several years. Quite frankly, it is through her strong work ethic resulting in multiple hours of off-season swimming that she has developed into a college-level swimmer. We are excited for Tara to have an opportunity to swim at DePauw University and we wish her the best.”
“I am very excited to start the next four years of my life and thank everyone who has contributed along the way to help me on this part of my journey,” said Holder. “I am very excited to start the next four years of my life and thank everyone who has contributed to along the way to help me on this part of my journey,” she added.
