The Westfield girls swim team began its season by winning its own Kristin Rice Invitational on Saturday.
The Shamrocks scored 690 points to get the team victory. Westfield won six events, including a 1-2-3 sweep of the 200 freestyle race. Macy Hoaglan was first in a time of 2:00.39, with Alexa Boillat second and Isa Amaya third.
Hoaglan was also victorious in the 100 free race (54.96). Ellie Ketcham paced the individual medley (2:21.85), with Kate Peck winning the 500 free (5:35.41). The 200 free relay team of Annie Spaletto, Hoaglan, Amaya and Ketcham won a close race in 1:44.97, and the ‘Rocks closed out the meet with a 1-2 sweep of the 400 free relay. Spaletto, Boillat, Ketcham and Hoaglan won in 3:54.42, while Kate Harrison, Riley Howe, Amaya and Maddie DiFlora were second.
Other top four finishers for Westfield were: The teams of Boillat, Olivia Kielty, Hannah Jones and Spaletto (second) and Amaya, Elle Herzog, Abby Armour and Abby Zentz (third) in the medley relay, Harrison (fourth) in the IM, Spaletto in the 50 free (third), Jones (second) and Boillat (third) in the butterfly, Nicole Casey (third) in the 500 free, the team of Zentz, Casey, Herzog and Howe in the 200 free relay (fourth), Harrison (second), Jones (third) and Howe (fourth) in the backstroke and Kielty (third) in the breaststroke.
