The boys meet saw fast Tuesday night racing as the Royals beat Avon 119-67. The score didn’t fully reflect the effort of the host Orioles as there were tightly contested races all night.
The Royals were anchored by their dominant performance in winning all three relays and by event victories in the 50 and 100 freestyles (sophomore DJ Rogers) and butterfly (sophomore Connor Harrison). They also swept the top two spots in diving (junior Nathan Barr and senior Garrett Garwood) and the breaststroke (sophomore Andrew Truxall and freshman Thomas Reising).
But the story of the night was the Royals’ outstanding performance in claiming depth in individual races, outtouching Avon for important second, third, fourth, and even fifth place points. Among the many highlights were sophomore Cam Knurek in the 200 free, Truxall in the IM, Reising in the 50 free, freshman Kaeden Smith in diving, and freshman Keegan Streett in the 100 free.
Freshman Carson Drish also stood out in the backstroke, freshmen Alex Kaminski and Jake Connor highlighted the 100 free, and freshman Owen Armstrong swam a great 200 free.
The Royals have have two more meets this week. They host Franklin Central Thursday night at 6 p.m. and head to Brownsburg to face the conference rival Bulldogs Saturday morning.
