The Fishers swimming team competed with Columbus North and Bloomington South at the Christmas Classic Saturday at the IUPUI Natatorium.
The Tiger girls beat Columbus North 88-13 and Bloomington South 61-41. Individual event winners included sophomore Corrine Yorkman in the individual medley and backstroke, senior Amilia Nusbaum in the 100 freestyle, sophomore Abby Jahns in the 500 free and Grace Mossing in the diving event. The 200 free relay team of Nusbaum and sophomores Hannah Pratt, Ellen Fero and Kyla Srncik was also a winner.
Fishers’ boys were also double winners, over Columbus North 60-42 and Bloomington South 58-44. The following Tigers got first-place finishes: Senior Kyle Haflich in the IM and backstroke, sophomore Aaron Frollo in the 500 free and senior Cole VanDevender in diving. The medley relay team of Haflich, senior Noah Baldwin, junior Drake Stallworth and senior Joel Crull also won.
In the junior varsity contest, Fishers’ girls were 84-10 winners over Columbus North and victorious 82-13 over Bloomington South. Individual victories came from sophomore Emma Julien in the 200 free and butterfly, junior Samantha Hietpas in the IM and 500 free, freshman Kylie Terpening in the 100 free and backstroke, senior Kayce Ingram in the breaststroke and sophomore Brianna Weiss in diving.
Relay winners were the medley relay team of Hietpas, freshman Emily Pfeifer, senior Sarah Jacobs and Terpening; the 200 free relay team of junior Zoe Luckie, Jacobs, junior Anna Stephan and Julien; and the 400 free relay team of senior London Osmun, Stephan, junior Anna Meyer and Jacobs.
The Tigers’ JV boys team beat Columbus North 71-31 and Bloomington South 64-38. Individual winners were sophomore Bruno Kitazuka in the 200 and 500 freestyles, sophomore Izzy Harding the IM and breaststroke, senior Pedro Yam Quinones in the butterfly, senior Peyton Dewaelsche in the 100 free and backstroke and junior Lukas Wooster in diving.
Fishers swept all three relays: Dewaelsche, Harding, Yam Quinones and freshman Sean Deimling won the medley relay; Deimling, Harding, Kitazuka and freshman Tyler Schwertferger were first in the 200 free relay and Dewaelsche, junior Nic Silva, Schwertferger and Kitazuka paced the 400 free relay.
The Tigers are back in action Thursday, Dec. 28 at the North Central Invitational.
