The girls swimming post-season began on Thursday with the sectional preliminaries. Hamilton County schools competed at three different sites.
At Noblesville, Carmel began its run towards a 34th consecutive state title by qualifying all 27 of its swims into the championship heat of Saturday’s sectional finals. The Greyhounds earned the top seed in all 11 events, including two No. 1 swims for Gretchen Lueking in the 200 and 100 freestyles.
The Millers advanced all 27 of their swims, sending 18 into the championship heat and nine into the consolation heat. All three Noblesville relays finished second in their respective races, while Sammy Huff earned the second seed in the breaststroke.
Westfield qualified all 27 of its swims, placing 16 in the championship heat and 11 in the consolations. Macy Hoaglan had the highest individual finish for the Shamrocks, getting the third seed in the 200 free. Westfield’s 400 free relay team also placed third.
Guerin Catholic had six swims advance to Saturday, four in the championship heat and two in the consolation heat. Erica Hunckler finished third in the 50 and 100 freestyles.
At Hamilton Southeastern, both the Royals and Fishers qualified all 27 of their swims on to Saturday’s finals.
The Tigers got all 27 swims into the championship heat, including six top seeds. Jo Jo Ramey finished first in the individual medley and 500 free. The Royals advanced 26 swims into the championship heat and one into the consolation heat. Southeastern earned the top seed in all three relays, with Molly Pedersen finishing first in the 200 free and Abigail Harter placing first in the backstroke.
Hamilton Heights was moved into the HSE/Fishers sectional this season. The Huskies sent 17 swims into the finals, placing five in the championship heat and 12 into the consolations. Tara Holder qualified as the second seed in the 500 free.
University competed in the Zionsville sectional. The Trailblazers qualified their 400 free relay team of Regan Hooker, Charlotte Kumler, Madison Clary and Kylar Kavanaugh into the championship heat after it placed seventh. University also had nine more swims reach the consolation heat.
Complete results from all sectionals now follow. Positions 1-8 qualify for championship heat, positions 9-16 qualify for consolation heat, positions 17-18 are alternates.
