Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation (CCPR) will host competitors at The Waterpark, serving as a prime stop on the national FLOW Tour circuit on Sunday, May 21, beginning at 8 a.m. The Waterpark is home to the FlowRider®, the only simulated surfing machine in Indiana. This is CCPR’s fourth season serving as a competition location.
“We love seeing both professionals and those who are new to the sport show off their skills on the FlowRider®,” said Leah Weprich, Aquatics Program Supervisor. “Surfing is not something you see everyday in the Midwest, so we’re proud to host the FLOW Tour and bring people in from all over the country.”
The FlowRider® features up to 30 miles per hour of rushing waves, and provides users the choice to ride bodyboard style (on knees/laying down) or flowboard style (standing up). The FLOW Tour competition will include both professional and amateur divisions with the chance to win prizes, money and medals for top finishers. The competition will also feature an Adaptive division to showcase the skills of those participants with disabilities. Competitors traveling long-distance are invited to camp onsite with other competitors prior to the competition, and all registered participants are invited to exclusive training sessions on Saturday evening and early Sunday morning.
