Summer full of Kids TRI for Kids triathlons scheduled for Indy area

This summer, kids ages 6 to 14 and their friends can enjoy five triathlons which are designed just for kids. Kids TRI for Kids (KTFK) offers safe races where kids can learn the value of fun competition.

The initiative of Kids TRI for Kids is to provide friendly competition and also help kids form healthy fitness habits by taking part in affordable fitness options – swimming, biking and running.

The 2023 dates and locations are June 11, Kathy Dowling Aquatics Center in Greenfield; July 4, Zionsville High School; July 30, TRI Indy at White River State Park; Aug. 13, Riviera Club; and Aug. 27, Greenwood Freedom Springs Aquatics Park.

Registration for the races is currently open. Triathlons and Duathlons are available for each date. Each race will have varied distances based on their layouts. You can visit the Kids TRI website, KidsTRIforKids.com, and get details about each race.

The events are open to children aged 6 to 14. The age of the participant is determined by age as of Dec. 31, 2023. All races are $30 online and $45 if registering at the race. Family special: $30 for first two children then $25 for each additional child.

USAT Membership is also required. Youth membership is $10 and will be good for one year. Please register online before your first race and bring evidence of your USAT member number to each race. You can register at member.usatriathlon.org/login.

Awards will be given at each race. Each triathlete will receive a participation ribbon with a goodie bag. Kids TRI for Kids medals will be awarded for first through third places in each age division.

For each race, participants will receive an additional award based on the number of races they have participated in:

  • One race = T-shirt
  • Two races= a water bottle
  • Three races = a sling bag
  • Four races = a race belt
  • Five races = a KTFK trophy

Kid TRI for kKds also partners with Best Buddies and other groups to help get ALL kids involved with physical activity.
