Still time to take part in activities at Carmel’s Meet Me on Main event

This weekend’s Meet Me on Main festivities include Rain on Main, live music, the “Art in the Garden” program, a live demonstration by Jan McCune (at Indiana Artisan), crafts for the kids and more.

Watch live on the Carmel Arts & Design District’s Facebook page from 5 to 5:45 p.m. as event organizers speak with The Olive Mill, Eyes on Main and Art on Main Gallery.

Meet Me on Main begins at 5 p.m. in the District and includes the following special events:

Rain on Main

An annual event held to increase awareness of water quality and conservation, local artists transform 65-gallon, urn style rain barrels into one of a kind pieces of art and then auction them off to raise funds for water education signage in Carmel Clay Parks.

  • See … the Rain on Main barrels displayed along Main Street through Aug. 14.
  • Vote … for your favorite by liking your top barrel on the Rain on Main Facebook page.
  • Join … at the Carmel Farmers Market on Aug. 15 to see all of the barrels.
  • Buy … or bid on your favorite rain barrel in the online silent auction from noon on Aug. 7 through 11 a.m. on Aug. 15.

Rain on Main is organized by Carmel Utilities, Department of Storm Water Management and Hamilton County Soil and Water Conservation District.

Treasure Hunt: Three $100 gift cards will be hidden in the District on Saturday, Aug. 8. Hints will be posted on the Carmel Arts & Design District’s Facebook page after 6 p.m. that evening. Follow along for your chance to win.

The Art Lab invites you to design your own wooden frame. Come by the breezeway next to Sub Zero to pick up your craft supplies. To-go baggies will be provided and will include a wooden frame, tape and acrylic paint. This craft is free and no sign up is required. The make and take “to-go” art project will be available from 5 to 8:30 p.m. or until supplies last.

Free musical entertainment throughout the District includes Rosie Inman on Monterey Coastal Cuisine’s Patio, Sammi Lorena next to Anthony’s Chophouse and Dianna Davis in the courtyard next to Indiana Artisan.

New Art Work Alert! While visiting the District, don’t forget to check out the new four-piece mosaic by Nancy Keating which was created last summer as a community art project and hung in the breezeway in Sophia Square, thanks to the help from Carmel’s Street Department.
