September 12, 1951 – May 29, 2022
Steven Edward Kintz, 70, Cicero, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2022, at his home after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
He was born September 12, 1951, in Ft. Wayne, Ind., to William and Grace (Greene) Kintz.
He attended Allen County Schools and graduated from Bishop Luers High School with the Class of 1970. At an early age he became a Chicago Cubs fan and that lasted his entire life.
By trade, he was an auto mechanic, but he became the supervisor of the building where the Citizens Gas Company’s vehicles were maintained. He worked in that position for over 30 years. In addition to being adept at keeping vehicles in prime condition, his family related he could fix anything.
Steven was an avid golfer and upon retirement he spent much time on the golf course. He also enjoyed life on the lake. He had a pontoon boat and loved to take family and friends on trips on Morse Lake. The Fourth of July Holiday was a special time for Steven, his wife and their family, and they invited family and friends each year for a celebration.
He married Brenda Kay (Deutsch) Kintz on September 26, 1998, and she related that their blended family was everything to him. He greatly enjoyed their family gatherings.
He is survived by Brenda, his wife of 23 years, and his loving blended family, Angie (Larry) Jones, Kevin (Maureen) Kintz, Eric (Anyarat) Dedert, and Tammi (TJ ) Wilham; eight grandchildren; sisters, Joan Kintz, Amy Roach, and Julie Piasky; and a brother, Michael Kintz.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Kintz.
To honor Steven’s wishes there will not be a public service. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Hartley Funeral Homes Cicero Chapel is entrusted with Steven’s care and where you may send condolences at hartleyfuneralhomes.com.
Brenda – my sincere sympathies on your loss. Cherish all the happy memories. May God bless you with His comfort and peace. Kay Auer
