Dear Editor:
My name is Steve Fisher and I currently have the honor of serving the people of Sheridan as an elected official of the Sheridan Town Council. I am asking for your consideration to re-elect me for another term in this council position.
I am 45 years old and am married with two daughters and a grandson. My eldest daughter, Katie, graduated from Sheridan High School. My youngest daughter, Zoey, is in eighth grade. My wife, Kate, and I own and operate two businesses in Sheridan. I am a member of the Sheridan Lions Club and Sheridan Fidelity Lodge 309. I have coached football and girls’ basketball through the Sheridan Recreation League and Sheridan Middle School. I have dedicated my time and passion to serve my community and its members. During my time in office, I have been attentive to the needs of this great community and continue to work for the community’s successes. I have been accessible to the people of Sheridan by having open communication by phone, email, social media or my open door policy.
In 2017, we, the Sheridan Town Council, started and completed an $800,000 new road project. We also secured a $500,000 grant and $700,000 loan through the USDA to fix our storm water infrastructure. Our USDA loan is the first of its kind, funding our objective for much needed improvement and installation of a new storm water system. This construction started in the fall of 2017 and is on schedule to be completed the summer of 2018.
We have also been working to improve our city departments. We instituted an equipment rotation program to ensure our first responders have reliable equipment to serve the community. This program also included a cost-effective structure to address equipment needs across our town. In addition, we brought back cost of living raises and the Town of Sheridan’s contribution to our employee’s retirement funds.
I understand the importance of bringing new businesses to our town. We recently welcomed two new businesses and have successfully developed “shovel ready” sites to attract more companies to Sheridan in the near future.
I have built strong relationships with surrounding communities as well as strengthening relationships within our community. Two years ago, we worked with our Superintendent, Athletic Director, and Sheridan Community Recreation Sports to provide a place for our high school girls’ softball team to play at our Biddle Park.
During my service on the Sheridan Town Council, my objectives have not wavered. I would like the community’s support for re-election to complete our existing projects and oversee the new projects we have planned. I will continue my support of infrastructure and economic growth as well as making sure our first responders have the support and equipment needed to do their jobs safely.
My ongoing goals for the next four years will be to work with the people of Sheridan, attract new businesses, and continue supporting our existing businesses and infrastructure. I want Sheridan to be a safe place that people and businesses are proud to call home.
Thank you for your consideration. Please consider me, Steve Fisher, as you vote for the Sheridan Town Council.
