Stephen Thomas Rider

September 19, 1948 – May 17, 2020

Stephen Thomas Rider, 71, Noblesville, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, May 17, 2020.  He was born on September 19, 1948 to Thomas and Betty (Kennedy) Rider in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Steve worked as a carpenter specializing in custom woodwork and staircases.  He was a member of White River Christian Church and was actively involved with his men’s weekly Bible study group.  Steve held leadership roles in the Jaycees and was a national award-winning speaker.  He enjoyed taking care of his property, time by the fire pit and tinkering in the barn.  Most importantly, Steve cherished the time with his family and loved watching his children and “grand babies” thrive.

Steve is survived by his wife, Sharon Rider; children, Rick Rider, Jeff (Dawn) Rider, Patrick (Stacey) Rider, Gina (Stan) Howard, David (Polly) Driver and Tanya (Paul) Howard; sisters, Vicki Rider and Ellen (Steve) Everson; 10 grandkids, Taylor, Jacob, Morgan, Seth, Peyton, Dawson, Breanna, Kalie, Kristan and Jarred; and five great-grandkids, Addison, Mason, Carter, London and Oakland.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Judy Byrne.

A special thank you to all of Steve’s nurses, aides and family who so loving cared for him in his final days.

Private family services will be held with burial at Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville.  Randall & Roberts Funeral Homes has been entrusted with Steve’s care.
