Conner Prairie is proud to partner with other local museums to make family fun available to more Indiana families. Families that participate in any of the state assistance programs, including Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, food stamps or Hoosier Healthwise Insurance, can visit for just $2 per family member per visit. Aides enjoy complimentary admission with employee ID or proof of employment.
Military Admission Relief
Conner Prairie offers admission relief to the military by providing free daytime general admission to active-duty, retired and veteran military members and 50 percent off the general admission price for up to five immediate family members. Military ID is required. This discount is valid only for daytime general admission.

Prairie Tots
This 45-minute program for 2-year-olds and their parents or grandparents is filled with fun that includes crafts, singing and other activities perfect for toddlers. Children must be accompanied by an adult at no charge.
Prairie Tykes
Parents and grandparents: Connect one-on-one with your little ones (ages 3-6) while you make crafts, dance, sing and take part in the special activity of the day. Younger siblings are welcome; ages 2+ require a ticket. Children must be accompanied by an adult at no charge.
Prairie Plates
This unique foodie experience for adults celebrates the farm-to-table food and craft drink movement, featuring the region’s top chefs and gourmet artisans with dining experiences throughout Conner Prairie’s grounds.

Programs in April
Early Opening for Guests with Sensory Issues
9 to 10 a.m. April 7
Free admission for guests on the autism spectrum or with other sensory or developmental challenges
Conner Prairie opens one hour early for guests with autism and sensory or developmental challenges and their caregivers to enjoy a quieter experience. We trust that the public will respect this time for guests who will benefit from smaller crowds. You’ll have full access to the park and its offerings such as interacting with baby animals, self-guided exploration of outdoor historical areas, crafts and more. Please note: 1859 Balloon Voyage will not be flying during this time. If needed, guests will find designated areas marked as Quiet Spots, which offer a quiet location with a sensory kit that includes a weighted blanket and soft sensory toys, among other items. Guests must arrive between 9 and 10 a.m. to receive free admission but can stay for the entire day.
Fun in the Forge

Ages 14 and older
Learn to heat metal in a coal forge and shape it on an anvil. Complete several simple projects, such as barbeque skewers, a flint and steel firestarter (with instructions on how to use it) and a dinner bell. All tools and materials will be provided. Prairie Tykes: The Wonderful World of Mother Goose

Passport to Hi-Tech

Passport to Hi-Tech is the place for children, especially girls, to learn about careers in science, technology, engineering and math. It’s their ticket for a journey around an increasingly technological world. Children can participate in hands-on experiments, interactive exhibits and discover more about STEM professions and opportunities in Indiana and around the world. This program is a partnership between Conner Prairie and Women & Hi Tech. Special discounts available to Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and STEM Scouts. Call Guest Services at 317-776-6000 for details.
Prairie Plates: Tax Day with Taxman

Follow the North Star is an award-winning, participatory museum theater experience that demonstrates the wide ranging social attitudes toward African-Americans in pre-Civil War Indiana. Participants travel back to the year 1836 and assume the role of fugitive slaves seeking freedom on the Underground Railroad through Indiana. Traveling as a group, you will encounter a variety of characters, ranging from sympathetic allies to racist antagonists. It is a powerful experience that generates empathy, provokes discussion and immerses visitors in this important part of our nation’s history.
Light Painting at Conner Prairie

Join instructor Marc Lebryk from Roberts Camera as he shows you how to unlock the true potential of your landscape photography. Learn to illuminate your photography like Rembrandt by waiting until late in the day to photograph Conner Prairie landscapes with speedlights. Arbor Day

Get a free tree while supplies last when you visit Conner Prairie on Arbor Day. Get outside and connect with nature by seeing how many different types of trees you can identify or talk with foresters to discover what trees grow in Indiana and how they are used.
Shear FUN!

Discover the art and science of fiber through a variety of activities, demonstrations and meet-and-greets with our four-legged fiber friends. See the sheep-shearing process up close and experiment with hands-on activities, such as weaving and sewing. Connect with the past by spinning wool on an ancient drop spindle or by learning how the Lenape Indians used natural fibers to create cordage and weave belts.
Basic Knifemaking
9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 28, 29

Ages 16 and older
During this two-day course, you’ll upcycle used steel into hand-forged and finished knives. Learn about proper forging, heat treating and handle construction. Some basic tools and materials are required. Reservations are required. Register online at connerprairie.org or by calling 317-776-6000.
Try Something New
During your next visit, experience something new through these hands-on activities. All activities are $5 per visitor.
Make and Take a Basket
2 p.m. daily; ages 4 and older
Visit the Loom House and learn simple basket-making skills as you weave a small reed basket.
BANG! Fire a Rifle
2:30 p.m. weekends only; ages 14 and older
Head to 1863 Civil War Journey to learn how a Civil War-era musket was loaded and fired, according to military protocol. Then fire either a Springfield or Enfield rifle yourself.
Dip a Candle
3 p.m. weekdays, ongoing weekends; ages 4 and older
Walk out to the Treetop Workshop and hand dip a beeswax candle, the same type of candles once used to light homes in the 19th century.
Make a Bead Bracelet
3:30 p.m. daily; ages 4 and older
Visit Lenape Indian Camp and discover why beads were an important part of the fur trade. Choose from a variety of authentically styled beads as you piece together an attractive bracelet of your very own.
