Spartz: Congress abdicated foreign policy responsibilities

This weekend, Rep. Victoria Spartz (R-Ind.-05) returned from a nine-day congressional trip around the world with the House Democracy Partnership Commission, visiting key national security regions in the Indo-Pacific, Middle East, and Europe.

“The leadership of the United States is critical in these challenging times of instability around the world,” Spartz said. “Congress, representing the American people with the constitutional powers of the purse and war, must play a larger role as a policymaker and a check on the executive branch. As an immediate action, Congress needs to provide more proactive authority in dealing with terrorist groups like the Houthis and work with our Middle Eastern allies to help Israel establish lasting peace in the region.”
