The first Mudsock trophy of the spring season went to the Royals.

The Hamilton Southeastern boys golf team claimed the Mudsock meet Tuesday at The Hawthorns. The Royals scored 310 to Fishers’ 357.

Southeastern’s Cole Starnes was the meet medalist with a two-under par 70.

“Front nine, I really struck the ball well,” said Starnes. “My wedges were really tight front nine. Back nine, I wasn’t striking as well, but still was able to par all the holes in the back nine, so I was able to keep it together the entire time.”

Mattingly Upchurch, Kai Warner and Tyler Marcinko all scored 80s for the Royals, followed by Lane Zedrick with an 81.

“It feels great to get a point for not only the golf team, but the entire school,” said Starnes.

The Tigers were led by Ryan Stewart with an 86, followed by Jonathan Ash with 89. Will Major, Tommy Klinker and Sam Keithley all had 91s.
