The Hamilton Heights softball team saw its sectional run come to an end Thursday, as the Huskies fell to Yorktown 14-3 in the final of Sectional 24 at Delta.
The Tigers scored three runs in the top of the third inning. Hannah Dent smacked a solo home run in the bottom of the third to get Heights on the board.
Yorktown scored in a run in the top of the fourth, and the Huskies again answered in the bottom of the inning. Melanee Forrester batted in Audrey Cain with a center field single.
Hailey Hall blasted a one-out homer in the fifth inning, cutting the Tigers’ lead to 4-3. But Yorktown took over after that, with back-to-back RBI doubles in the sixth inning. The Tigers overwhelmed Heights in the seventh inning with eight runs, including three homers.
Hall was 3-for-4 at the plate, while Forrester went 2-for-3.
The Huskies finished their season 12-12.
