The Hamilton Southeastern softball team scored a walk-off win in its regular-season finale, beating Yorktown 10-9 in a Saturday home game.
The Royals trailed 9-8 going into the bottom of the seventh inning, but Kaelin Wincek tied it up quickly with a leadoff home run. With one out, Libby Ratliff got on base with a left field double, and was immediately sent in to score by Kennedy Morgan’s single.
Southeastern scored twice in the first inning, with Jordan Rager doubling in Abby Taylor and Ava Aguilar scoring on Nicole Lang’s sacrifice fly. Taylor singled in Morgan in the second inning.
The Royals continued to roll in the third inning, with Rager smacking a leadoff homer and Lilian Leiner scoring Lang on a double. Leiner got home on Olivia Capuano’s RBI groundout, putting Southeastern ahead 6-1.
The Royals added two more runs in the fourth inning, with Taylor scoring on a wild pitch and Aguilar getting home on Wincek’s RBI groundout. Yorktown scored five runs in the next inning and eventually lead 9-8 before Southeastern got the walk-off win.
Taylor and Rager both had three hits. Olivia Bucher pitched two and two-thirds innings of relief and got the win.
Southeastern finished the regular season 13-9.

Golden Eagles softball gets two solid wins
Guerin Catholic finished up its regular season with two wins at the Circle City Conference tournament, which was played Saturday at Roncalli.
On Friday, the Golden Eagles won over Scecina 8-2. The Crusaders scored the first run of the game in the top of the first inning, but Guerin tied it up in the bottom of the inning when Aliyah Dorsey stole home.
Faith Goodin singled home Hannah Bills in the second inning to give the Golden Eagles a 2-1 lead. Scecina knotted the game at 2-2 in the top of the third, but Guerin Catholic answered with five runs in the bottom of that inning.
Izzy Kemp batted in Dorsey, then later stole home. Goodin then cracked a left field double to bring in Hannah Bills and Victoria Flores. Goodin stole home plate, putting GC up 7-2.
Ana Macha got the Golden Eagles’ eighth run by scoring on an error in the sixth inning. Goodin finished the game 3-for-3, while Alicia Flores and Victoria Flores both had two hits. Alicia Flores pitched a complete-game win, with 16 strikeouts.
Guerin Catholic beat Covenant Christian 9-2 in its second game. The Golden Eagles took control right away: Madelyn Buckner singled Macha home, then Victoria Flores hit a grand slam to put GC up 5-0. Buckner, Alicia Flores and Kemp all scored; Alicia Flores had gotten on base with a double.
The Golden Eagles added four runs in the seventh inning. Lucy Schenk hit a sacrifice fly to send Bills home, then Macha singled in Elizabeth DiBlasio home. Buckner’s double scored Sarah Dilley and Macha.
Buckner had three hits, with Macha getting two hits. Kemp pitched six innings for the win, tossing 13 strikeouts.
Guerin Catholic finished the regular season 13-7.
