Noblesville kept its undefeated season rolling Tuesday, beating Zionsville 18-1 on the road in a five-inning Hoosier Crossroads Conference game.
The Millers scored four runs in the first inning, six in the second and eight in the fourth. Ella White hit two home runs (one in the first, the other in the fourth), totaling five RBIs for the game.
Grace Smith totaled seven RBIs for the game on 3-for-4 hitting. First up was a two-run home in the first inning, then a two-run single in the second. In the fourth inning, Smith sent a bases-loaded triple into center field, scoring Abby Brown, Stinson and Chloe Tragesser.
Julia Furiak hit 3-for-4, including a triple and a double. Maggie Hampton and Baily Ryan both had one double. Stinson and Tragesser both totaled two hits, with Tragesser batting in two runs. Stinson, Smith and Emily Minett all scored three times.
Maddie Taylor pitched four innings, striking out six.
Noblesville is now 3-0 and is leading the conference. The Milers are 5-0 overall and host Madison-Grant at 5:30 p.m. today in a make-up game.
Huskies fall to Tipton
Hamilton Heights dropped a 14-2 five-inning Hoosier Conference game to Tipton on Tuesday.
The Huskies scored one run in the first inning. Bayleigh Runner and Jessica Kaurich had back-to-back hits, Hayley Greene walked to load the bases, then Aliyah Dorsey drew a walk to send Runner home. Sydney Massicotte scored in the fourth inning on a passed ball.
Kaurich finished the game 2-for-3.
“Tonight we did not execute our situations well at all,” said Heights coach Landi Lockwood. “We didn’t have a lot of book errors but we had mental errors that allowed runners to move up and to score. On offense we started off well in the first but were just off balance after that.”
‘Blazers pick up first win
The University softball team brought home its first victory of the season on Tuesday, beating Pioneer conference opponent Anderson Prep 8-1.
Freshman Kendra Stevens pitched an outstanding game with junior Tatiana Dunipace behind the plate. Stevens pitched 16 strikeouts. Junior Haley Tomlinson and freshman Grace Brenner each scored a run for the Trailblazers and Stevens, junior Lillian Klemsz, and sophomore Annie Klemsz each scored two runs.
The ‘Blazers play again tonight at Sheridan and Thursday night against conference opponent Seton Catholic.
Tigers rally late, drop HCC game
Fishers dropped an 11-5 Hoosier Crossroads Conference game to Brownsburg Tuesday at the Tigers’ field.
The Bulldogs led 11-0 in the top of the sixth inning. Fishers scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth; Brooke Benson got the first run after Sydney Milburn drew a bases-loaded walk. Courtney James scored on an RBI groundout by Sara Bumps, then Jade Frye’s single sent Hannah Mays home.
James hit a two-run home run in the seventh inning, scoring herself and Benson. James finished the game 2-for-3 at the plate. Benson had gotten on base the at-bat before with a double.
The Tigers are 0-3 in the conference and 3-6 overall. Fishers hosts Yorktown on Thursday.
‘Hawks fall to Rossville, host UHS today
Sheridan fell to Rossville 3-0 in a Tuesday home game.
The Blackhawks had three hits, all doubles, with one each from Sydney Neff, Lauren Railer and Nixon Williams. Audrey Reed pitched four strikeouts in three innings.
Sheridan is 0-3 and will host University at 4:45 p.m. today.
‘Hounds get big MIC win
Carmel cruised past Pike 14-1 in a five-inning Metropolitan Conference game Tuesday at the Cherry Tree Softball Complex.
The Greyhounds took control of the game in the second inning, scoring nine runs. Stormy Kotzelnick and Maddie Searles both went 4-for-4 at the plate; Kotzelnick hit a third-inning solo home run. Searles, meanwhile, drove in two runs and scored three more.
Cate Harden was 3-for-3 at the plate, with two RBIs. Darby Roberts cracked a two-run triple into right field in the first inning, while Brooke Bair hit a two-RBI double in the second. Lauren Reiter was 2-for-2.
Harden pitched all five innings, striking out four and allowing just three hits.
Carmel is 1-1 in the MIC and 3-6 overall. The ‘Hounds host Pendleton Heights at 6 p.m. tonight.
Chatard’s fast start sends GC to loss
A fast start by visiting Bishop Chatard sent Guerin Catholic to a 16-4 defeat in five innings Tuesday at the Golden Eagles’ field.
The Trojans scored seven runs in the top of the first inning and five more in the second. Guerin scored three runs in the fourth inning, starting with a double by Alicia Flores that drove home Madelyn Buckner and Victoria Flores. Alicia Flores scored on a passed ball during the next at-bat.
The Golden Eagles added another run in the bottom of the fifth. Victoria Flores sent a triple into right field to score Sarah Dilley. Victoria Flores finished the game 2-for-3 at the plate.
Guerin Catholic is 2-2 and plays at 5:30 p.m. today at Roncalli.
