The Noblesville softball team won a big-hitting game at Fishers on Tuesday, 10-6 in an all-county and Hoosier Crossroads Conference battle.
Both teams scored two runs in the first inning. The Millers went first: Lauren DeRolf’s center field single scored Tatum Ball and Gabby Fowler. The Tigers answered when Abby Gavin hit a two-run home run, also scoring Karyn Trice.
Neither team scored again until the fourth inning. Taylor Thompson got a run for Noblesville when Aidan Gates drew a bases-loaded walk. That gave the Millers a 3-2 lead. But Fishers took a 4-3 advantage in the bottom of the fourth when Ashtin Grubb sent a base hit into left field, scoring Hannah Abbott and Hannah Trueblood.
The Millers responded with three runs in the top of the fifth. Fowler led off with a double, then eventually scored on DeRolf’s RBI bunt. Ball then got home on a passed ball, and Scout Duplaga hit a sacrifice fly to send DeRolf home.
Noblesville now led 6-4. The Tigers only needed two swings to tie the game in the bottom of the fifth. Kaylee Kardash smacked a homer into center field, then Gavin made it back-to-back home runs with her left field hit.
After that, the Millers took the lead in the sixth inning and held on from there. Fowler singled in Reis Sjoholm, then later scored when Cameron Grayson reached on error. Grayson eventually scored on that play as well. In the seventh inning, Erin Clark batted in DeRolf for Noblesville’s 10th run.
DeRolf went 3-for-4 at the plate, while Fowler had two hits. Grayson went six innings for the win.
Gavin was 3-for-3 for the Tigers, including a double, while Grubb was 2-for-2. Kate Murray pitched five innings, striking out five.
The Millers are 2-0 and host Carmel at 5:30 p.m. tonight, weather permitting. Fishers is 3-3 and hosts Lawrence North on Monday.

Sheridan split a pair of games to open the week.
On Monday, the Blackhawks lost to Lapel 20-0 in five innings. Maelei Casler was 2-for-2 at the plate, while Bosie Moore hit a double.
Sheridan rebounded on Tuesday with a tough 11-10 Hoosier Heartland Conference win at Clinton Prairie. The ‘Hawks scored a run in the top of the first inning when Jacquellynne Bates stole home plate.
The Gophers took a 2-1 lead during the bottom of the first inning. Sheridan grabbed the lead back with two runs in the top of the second. Emma Settles stole home, then Jacquellynne Bates scored on a wild pitch.
Chaney Smith singled in a run in the third inning, scoring Nova Cross and extending the Blackhawks’ lead to 4-2. Prairie tied the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the third, but Sheridan took over after that.
The ‘Hawks added four runs in the top of the fourth. Casler doubled in Taylor Bates, then Claudia Headlee’s right field hit scored Kendra Blankenship. Casler got home when Settles drew a bases-loaded walk, and Headlee scored after Jacquellynne Bates was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
Sheridan scored three more runs in the fifth inning. Blankenship scored on Headlee’s bases-loaded walk, then Casler got home when Settles was walked. Headlee later scored on a passed ball.
Smith was 3-for-5 at the plate, while Moore and Casler both had two hits. Moore got the pitching win, striking out seven.
The Blackhawks are 2-2 and host Clinton Central on Saturday.

Guerin Catholic cruised to a 14-4, five-inning win at Cardinal Ritter on Tuesday.
The Raiders scored a run in the bottom of the first inning, but the Golden Eagles took over in the top of the third by pouring in six runs. Lucy Kemp hit a three-run home run, Anna Rauch scored when Natalie Eiler reached on error, and Zoey Bussick cracked a two-run double. Izzy Kemp also hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning, while Cain singled in a run after Lucy Kemp doubled to lead off the inning.
Madi Cain hit a solo home run in the fifth inning, then Kirsten Mascari smacked a three-run homer. Lucy Kemp also doubled in a run.
Lucy Kemp had three hits, with Cain and Olivia Spomer both getting two. Eiler pitched all five innings for the win.
The Golden Eagles play at Brebeuf Jesuit this afternoon in a Circle City Conference game.

Hamilton Heights opened Hoosier Conference play Tuesday with an 8-6 home victory over Western.
The Huskies scored their first run in the first inning; Faith Hittle led off with a single and was soon doubled home by Lily Roush. Heights then added four runs in the third inning. Isabella Neiling singled in Hittle, Alayna Baber scored on a passed ball, Roush got home on Kaylee Rhoton’s RBI groundout, then Neiling stole home plate.
Ashlyn Fletcher delivered three more runs for the Huskies in the fifth inning, as her double scored Roush, Neiling and Rhoton. Neiling finished the game with two hits. Roush pitched a complete game for the victory.
Heights is 1-2 and plays at Western today to complete the conference series.

Hamilton Southeastern let loose in the seventh inning at Zionsville on Tuesday, scoring five runs to take the lead before holding off the Eagles to win 6-5 in a Hoosier Crossroads Conference game.
Both teams scored a run in the fifth inning; Alex Kiemeyer doubled in Payton Fox to get the Royals on the board.
Zionsville led 2-1 after six innings. Southeastern took the lead in the seventh when Laila Wanza hit a two-run home run, also sending home Maddie Bucher. Later, Jenna Chase cracked a two-run single to score Taylor Larson and Emma Vance. Paige Gould came in to run for Chase, and she was batted in by a Sage Ladig single. The Eagles scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh, but the Royals held on for the win.
Fox had two doubles for Southeastern. Chase pitched a complete game, striking out four.
The Royals are 3-3 and play Thursday at New Palestine.

Carmel dropped a Tuesday game at Lawrence North by the score of 9-5.
The Wildcats led 4-0 midway through the second inning. The Greyhounds got their first run in the bottom of the second when Audrey Hussain scored on a passed ball. Carmel added two more runs in the third inning; Lily Sullivan singled in Ella Ohrvall, then Hussain doubled home Paxton Law.
The ‘Hounds took a 5-4 lead in the fifth inning; Hope McDonald singled in Sullivan, then Hussain picked up another run when Maddie Stacy reached on error. But Lawrence North scored five runs in the top of the seventh inning to take the game.
Ohrvall was 3-for-4 at the plate, including a double. Jessica Remm also hit a double.
Carmel is 2-1 and plays this afternoon at Noblesville, weather permitting.
