Softball: Huskies drop home game to Wildkats

The Hamilton Heights softball team fell to Kokomo 13-6 in a Saturday game at the Huskies’ field.
The Wildkats built a 6-0 lead by the fifth inning, then added five runs in the top of the sixth. Heights tried to mount a comeback in the bottom of the sixth, scoring five runs of its own.
Hayley Greene opened the inning with a triple, then Sydney Massicotte drew a walk. Ashlyn Fletcher batted in the first run, as her double sent Greene home. Alayna Baber then hit a single to score Massicotte. Later, Kassidy Schakel stepped up and hit a three-run home run, also sending in Fletcher and Baber.
That made the score 11-5. In the seventh inning, Kokomo added two more runs. The Huskies scored one more in the bottom of the inning, with Fletcher’s single scoring Greene.
Fletcher and Isabella Neiling both had two hits for Heights, which is now 1-4 for the season. The Huskies play a Hoosier Conference series this coming week with Western, going on the road Tuesday before hosting the Panthers on Wednesday.
