Carmel picked up two big wins this week.
On Tuesday, the Greyhounds beat Metropolitan Conference rival Lawrence North 10-0 in five innings. Carmel scored runs in each of the last three innings. Stormy Kotzelnick hit a fifth-inning triple that scored three runs and finished the game by the 10-run rule.
Kotzelnick totaled five RBIs in the game and was 3-for-4 at the plate, including a double. Megan Nichols hit two doubles and batted in three runs. Sommer Edwards and Ariana Zdobylak each had two hits. Edwards pitched the complete game, striking out seven against two hits and no walks.
The Greyhounds scored another shutout on Wednesday by beating Zionsville 4-0 at Cherry Tree Softball Complex. Carmel got on the board with two home runs in the fourth inning: Megan Nichols led off with a homer to center field. Sarah Goddard reached on error, then Caroline Roop sent a home run over the left field fence to get the ‘Hounds up 3-0.
Carmel scored another run in the sixth inning, when Ella Ohrvall doubled in Halle Robinson. Ohrvall and Nichols both had two hits in the game. Kaitlyn Grimes got the pitching win, tossing five strikeouts in five innings.
The Greyhounds are 6-5 and play Friday at Bishop Chatard.

Golden Eagles fall to Warren, rebound against LCC
Guerin Catholic lost a frustrating Monday game at Warren Central, by the score of 4-3.
The Golden Eagles scored the game’s first run in the top of the fifth inning. Aliyah Dorsey’s left field hit sent Ana Macha home. The Warriors scored three runs in the bottom of the inning and added one more in the sixth.
Guerin tried to rally in the seventh. Macha singled to get on base, stole second, advanced to third on an error, and then was batted home by Madelyn Buckner. Buckner was scored by Dorsey’s second RBI single of the day. But the Warriors would let the Golden Eagles get no close.
Macha, Dorsey, Izzy Kemp and Victoria Flores all had two hits. Kemp pitched a great game, striking out 13 and allowing only two hits.
Guerin Catholic rebounded on Tuesday to beat Lafayette Central Catholic 10-0 in five innings at the Knights’ field. The Golden Eagles scored seven runs in the fifth inning, then Alicia Flores pitched a perfect bottom of the fifth to end the game on the 10-run rule.
Buckner and Lucy Schenk both had three hits, with Buckner totaling three RBIs. Kemp hit a fifth-inning triple, while Alicia Flores and Macha each had a double. Alicia Flores pitched a complete game, striking out 10 and allowing just one hit.
Guerin Catholic is 8-5 and hosts Cardinal Ritter at 5:30 p.m. this afternoon.

Trailblazers cruise past Traders Point
University got a big win on Tuesday, beating Traders Point Christian 17-0 in a five-inning Tuesday game at RoundTripper Academy.
The Trailblazers scored in each inning, starting with five runs in the first. Tatiana Dunipace had two hits and batted in three runs. Kendra Stevens had a good game on offense with a double, and also pitched a complete game, striking out 12 and allowing just one hit.
University fell to Liberty Christian 4-0 on Monday. Haley Tomlinson, Lillian Klemsz and Elise Nachlis each had one hit.
The Trailblazers are 2-5 and host Clinton Central on Friday.

Huskies swept by Northwestern
Hamilton Heights was swept by Northwestern this week in a Hoosier Conference seroes.
The Huskies lost at the Panthers field 5-4 on Tuesday. Northwestern scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning, but Heights came back with three runs in the top of the third. Alayna Baber scored the first run after Faith Hittle drew a bases-loaded walk. Sydney Massicotte later hit a two-RBI single to score Adyson Baber and Hittle.
The Panthers took the lead again with three runs in the fourth inning, and held on from there. Heights scored in the seventh when Isabella Neiling got home on Massicotte’s RBI groundout.
Neiling was 4-for-4 at the plate, with Alayna Baber and Hayley Greene both getting three hits. Bayleigh Runner and Massicotte each had two hits.
On Wednesday, the Huskies fell 9-4 in a home game. Northwestern led early, scoring six runs in the first two innings.
Heights got two runs each in the second and third innings. Hittle batted in Neiling for the first run, then Massicotte scored on a fielder’s choice by Meredith Diller. In the third inning, Neiling singled in Hayley Greene, and Massicotte’s sacrifice fly sent Adyson Baber home.
The Huskies are 1-11 and play tonight at Pike.

Fast start sends ‘Hawks past WeBo
Sheridan got out to a fast start against Western Boone, and that led the Blackhawks to a 10-6 victory Wednesday at Biddle Park.
Sheridan scored nine runs in the first inning. Katy Crail led off with a home run into right field. Taylor Bates singled in Riley Reed, then Breanna Bouse cracked a three-run double to score Allie Delph, Caitlin Neese and Bates.
Later, Reed smacked a two-RBI double, sending Bouse and Emma Went home. A right field single by Delph brought home Crail, and Addyson Ream batted in Reed.
The Blackhawks’ 10th run came in the fourth inning, when Jayden Warren hit a double to score Ream. Ream finished the game 3-for-4 at the plate, with Reed, Bouse and Went all getting two hits. Ream was also the winning pitcher, throwing four and two thirds innings and striking out five.
Sheridan is 4-2 and plays at Guerin Catholic on Monday.
