The Sheridan boys soccer team won two big games to start the week.
On Monday, the Blackhawks defeated Hoosier Heartland Conference opponent Taylor 1-0. Sophomore Trai Fitzgerald scored Sheridan’s goal, while junior goalkeeper Carson Huffman made 13 saves.
The ‘Hawks continued the momentum on Tuesday with a 4-3 win over North Montgomery. Freshman Carsen Aleman scored two goals, with Fitzgerald and Austin Bond both adding one goal. Carsen Aleman and Donovan Aleman each dished out one assist. Huffman had 10 saves.
Sheridan is 2-5 for the season and hosts Herron on Thursday.
Sheridan’s girls team split its first two games of the week.
On Monday, the Blackhawks lost an all-county game to Class 2A No. 8 Hamilton Heights 7-1. The Huskies led 5-0 at halftime.
Kyndall Ferguson and Cassidy Felger both scored two goals for Heights, followed by Emma Hall, Keri Townsend and Ella Hickok with one goal each. Hall also handed out two assists, with Jayla Logan, Ferguson and Hickok each dishing out one.
The victory kept Heights unbeaten for the season at 11-0. The Huskies play at Bishop Chatard on Thursday.

The Blackhawks regrouped on Tuesday to beat North Montgomery 2-1 in an away game. Cecilia Timme scored Sheridan’s first goal 10 minutes into the game, and the score was 1-0 through halftime.
The Chargers tied the game with 15 minutes left. With seven minutes to go, Timme took a drop ball from midfield and dribbled it all the way down to score.
Emma Alexander, Mac Smith and Godby all played solid defense, with Godby picking up 10 saves.
The Blackhawks are 4-4 and host Crawforsville on Thursday for Senior Night. The team is hosting a toy drive for Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital. Fans that bring a new toy get into the game for free.
University’s girls team also made a split to start the week.
On Monday, the Trailblazers beat Greenwood Christian Academy 3-2 in a Pioneer Conference game. Alex Feeney, Sydney Epstein and Audrey Blocksom each scored one goal for University. Lindsey Blocksom dished out two assists, while Audrey Blocksom handed out one assist.
The ‘Blazers dropped a 7-0 game to Park Tudor on Tuesday.
University is 4-1 in PAAC play and 5-5 overall. The Trailblazers host Tipton on Thursday.
The Westfield girls team played to a 0-0 tie with Cathedral on Monday.
Zoe McKinney made two big saves in the second half to preserve the shutout.
The Shamrocks are 3-3-3 and plays tonight at Hamilton Southeastern.
Hamilton Southeastern’s boys team split its early-week games.
On Monday, the 3A No. 4 Royals beat Pendleton Heights 1-0. Evan Dawdy scored Southeastern’s goal in the first half, with Blake Braden making the assist.
The Royals traveled to Westfield on Tuesday for an all-county and Hoosier Crossroads Conference game. The Shamrocks won 3-2.
Southeastern led 1-0 at halftime, with Dawdy scoring the goal off an assist from Braden and Jonny Leeper.
Westfield then quickly scored all three of its goals in the second half. Ben Church, Bryce Dolenc and Oliver Smith all put in one goal, with Caden Harrison, Everitt Fife and Conor Scanlon each providing one assist. HSE’s Logan Wright made a penalty kick to close the gap, but the ‘Rocks held on for the win.
Westfield is 3-2 in conference play and 5-3-1 overall, and plays at Lebanon on Saturday. The Royals are also 3-2 in the HCC and 8-2-1 overall. Southeastern jumps back into conference play on Thursday at Noblesville.
The Carmel girls team kept its unbeaten record in Metropolitan Conference play intact by beating North Central 2-1 Monday on the road.
The 3A No. 3 Greyhounds scored their first goal in the sixth minute of the first half. Megan Hamm kicked the ball in off an Emily Roper assist. The Panthers got on the board with 11:56 left in the half, but Roper put Carmel back ahead seconds later off a Saliyah Brady assist.
“While the second half was scoreless, both teams played well and created chances,” said ‘Hounds coach Frank Dixon.
Carmel is 5-0 in MIC play and 9-1-1 overall. The Greyhounds host Warren Central tonight in another conference game.
Carmel’s boys team, ranked No. 11 in 3A, also scored a MIC victory at North Central, beating the Panthers 2-1 on Tuesday.
Will Latham scored a goal off an assist by Braeden Thomson, and Baenan Mckeown scored from a Will Morgan assist.
“I was proud of the effort the guys gave in the second half,” said Greyhounds coach Shane Schmidt.
Carmel is 4-0 in conference play and 6-2-1 overall. The ‘Hounds return home on Thursday for another MIC game, this one with Warren Central.
The Noblesville boys team held off Zionsville 3-2 in a Tuesday HCC contest at the Zionsville Youth Soccer Association fields.
The 3A No. 2 Millers scored all three of their goals in the first half. Palmer Ault sent a pass to Sammy Holland, who crossed it to Cole Bramblett, and Bramblett put it in the net. Noblesville’s second goal started with a corner kick by Brayden Doll. He kicked to Noah Bernot, who passed it back to Doll, who then sent it into the goal box where Holland headed it into the goal.
The Millers led 2-0, but the Eagles cut the lead to 2-1 on a counterattack off a deflected shot. Noblesville got the goal back later when Kyle Goad scored on a penalty kick.
That gave the Millers a 3-1 halftime lead, and they held on for the win. Noah Adams and Luke Odle both gave solid performances.
Noblesville is 9-1-1 and hosts Hamilton Southeastern on Thursday in another HCC game.
Fishers, ranked No. 1 in 3A, also was an HCC winner on Tuesday, beating Brownsburg 2-0 in a home game.
Noah Reinhart scored both of the Tigers’ goals, one of which was assisted by Keiji Nakamae. Tyler March earned his eighth shutout of the season.
Fishers is 9-0-1 and hosts North Central on Thursday.
