The Carmel boys soccer team, ranked No. 1 in Class 3A, zoomed to a 4-1 victory at Cathedral on Thursday.
Will Latham, Colin Fettig and John Gilbert all scored goals for the Greyhounds. Connor Dora handed out three assists, and Josiah Shepson made one assist.
“From the first whistle, our energy was fantastic,” said Carmel coach Shane Schmidt. “I thought our hard work, high pressure style defense caused them problems and we were able to transition back into our attack quickly.”
The ‘Hounds are 9-2-3 and host 2A No. 16 Guerin Catholic tonight at Murray Stadium.

The Noblesville boys team cruised past Plainfield on Thursday by a score of 4-1.
The 3A No. 5 Millers scored one goal in the first half, with Sam Divis finding Sammy Holland on a through ball. The score would stay 1-0 at halftime, but Noblesville got going after the break.
Holland scored two goals within the first five minutes of the second half to put his team up 3-0. The Quakers scored in the 61st minute, but the Millers answered when Owen Mejia scored off of Noah Adams’ corner kick.
Noblesville is 8-2-2 and hosts Glenbrook South (Ill.) tonight.

Hamilton Heights’ girls team advanced to the championship game of the Hoosier Conference tournament in dramatic fashion Thursday night.
The 2A No. 13 Huskies played to a scoreless tie with 2A No. 19 Northwestern. The game eventually went to penalty kicks, and Heights won the round 5-3 to clinch a place in the final. Audrey Lang had 12 saves.
The Huskies improved to 11-2-1 with the win and will play 2A No. 16 West Lafayette at 11 a.m. Saturday at Northwestern for the conference championship.

The Hamilton Heights boys team also got a big win Thursday, coming back to win its Senior Night game 3-2 over Western.
Sam Harpham scored two goals for the Huskies, with Micah Colvin getting one goal. Cameron Wheat and Carson Felger both had one assist. Jackson McCullough had 10 saves as goalkeeper.
Heights is 9-6-1 and plays at Liberty Christian on Tuesday.

University’s girls team tied with Western Boone 0-0 on Tuesday.
The Trailblazers are 5-6-1 and host Triton Central on Wednesday.
