The Hamilton Heights girls soccer team celebrated its Senior Night on Monday by beating Sheridan 10-0 in an all-county game.
The Class 2A No. 16 Huskies have nine seniors on their team (Ava Bryant, Katie Smith, Maria Mitchell, Cacy Weaver, Miranda Hirl, Paige Doucette, Sydney Hillard, Jenna Peterson, and Haylee Lesperance) and a junior, Sophie Martin, who will graduate a year early. Weaver scored two goals for Heights, as did Cassidy Felger and Kyndall Ferguson. Smith, Peterson, Doucetter and Jayla Logan all had one goal. Mitchell, Peterson, Felger, Logan and Ferguson all had assists.
In a junior varsity game, the Huskies beat Oak Hill 3-1. Ella Hickok scored all three goals.
Heights is 3-0-1 and plays at 6:30 p.m. tonight at Western. Sheridan is 0-2 and hosts Tri-Central at 5 p.m. today.
The Carmel girls, ranked No. 2 in 3A, beat Ben Davis 8-0 in a Monday Metropolitan Conference game at the Giants’ field.
Megan Hamm scored three goals for the Greyhounds, with Annika Nelson, Saliyah Brady, Claire Bonnici, Carly Jessup and Riley Pennington each scoring one. Greta Heyl handed out three assists, followed by two each for Ava Cabellon and Luci Bair.
Carmel is 2-0 in MIC play and 4-0 overall. The ‘Hounds will host their own Invitational on Saturday with games against 2A No. 6 Cathedral and 3A No. 10 Avon.
Noblesville’s boys, who moved up to No. 2 in 3A this week, took care of 3A No. 17 Avon 3-0 in a Hoosier Crossroads Conference game at the Orioles’ field.
The Millers scored their first goal in the first half, with Kyle Goad sending a ball to Spencer Holland, who put it in the back of the net. Noblesville added two more goals in the second half: Drew Barnes got one in, with Holland picking up his second assist. Barnes then put a cross to Goad, who finished the score.
Gabe Ingle scored the shutout, with the defensive back line of Andy Stansfield, Drew Cochran, Brady Horn and Colin Todd playing strong as well.
The Millers are 3-0 and will host 2A No. 9 Brebeuf Jesuit at 7 p.m. Thursday for their Senior Night game.
Hamilton Southeastern’s boys, ranked No. 8 in 3A, also picked up an HCC win on the road Tuesday, beating Brownsburg 4-2 in its conference opener.
The Royals scored three goals in the first half. Isa Sayeed made a header to get the first goal, Evan Dawdy scored the second on a free kick into the bottom right corner and Ryan Mikels finished a corner kick with a goal. Haris Mizuta scored Southeastern’s fourth goal in the second half.
The Royals are 3-0-1 and next play at Shelbyville on Thursday.
