Sloderbeck files for Sheriff’s race

Hamilton County Jail Commander, Capt. Jason Sloderbeck, filed this week to run as the Republican candidate for Hamilton County Sheriff.

Sloderbeck

Sloderbeck has been serving Hamilton County at the Sheriff’s Office since 1993. He began his career in law enforcement as a corrections officer before rising through the ranks to his current position of jail commander. Since being appointed as jail commander in 2011, Sloderbeck has worked collectively with the courts, probation, prosecutor and other stake holders to manage a growing jail population in the wake of an ongoing heroin epidemic.

“I appointed Jason as the jail commander because he is a proven leader, has an excellent work ethic, a keen business sense and has the commitment we need to keep our community safe,” said Mark Bowen, current Hamilton County Sheriff. “Jason has worked as an effective member of the team to cut spending, maximize efficiencies and expand programs offered in the jail to reduce recidivism and give folks the opportunity for a successful future.”

Sloderbeck is a life-long Hamilton County resident, graduating from Noblesville High School. He currently resides with his wife, Michelle, and daughter in Arcadia. When Jason is not on-duty, he spends time supporting his daughter’s swim team and serving the community in various capacities through volunteering.

“I am taking what I have learned from my 24 years in law enforcement and putting it to use in a way that will positively impact the residents of Hamilton County,” Sloderbeck said. “Hamilton County is home to some of the best communities in the state of Indiana, and I want to continue to make certain it is a safe place to live, work and visit. Through proper stewardship, mutual collaboration, and a dedicated vision, we can achieve this goal and continue to move Hamilton County in the right direction.”

Hamilton County’s primary election is Tuesday, May 8, 2018. To find out more about Sloderbeck or to contact him, visit sloderbeckforsheriff.com.
