The annual Darlington Bed Race returned to Noblesville for its 12th year after being canceled last year due to downtown construction.

The event is held each year to raise money for youth summer camp scholarships for the Boys and Girls Club of Noblesville (BGCN) and Noblesville Parks and Recreation programs. The race happened on Friday, May 30 and featured booths from local businesses, raffles, and prizes.

During the race, sponsored teams compete two at a time and eliminate each other until there are only two remaining. This year, returning champions The Sleepwalkers beat The Spring Guards and were undefeated throughout the entire competition. Each team bed has a theme; some of this year’s included superheroes, Snow White, and trains. The Sleepwalkers chose a pajama theme since it is called the Bed Race.

Sleepwalkers group member Ella Hill has participated in the race three times, but it has always been a part of her life.

“I’ve been coming to it since I was very young, so I’m grateful to actually be a part of it now.”

As the event brought together community members in support of BGCN, Hill reflected on the impact of her involvement.

“It’s amazing and I love doing it for the Boys and Girls Club,” Hill said. “It’s fun to be a part of something that makes the community come together.”
