The Hamilton Heights sixth-grade boys basketball team wrapped up their season last Saturday by playing host to and winning the annual Husky Invite.
“The first round was a rematch against a very good Western team that had beat Heights just a couple of weeks prior,” Head Coach Eric Heuer said. “The boys came out on fire and jumped to a quick 16-6 first quarter lead and led by 13 at halftime. The smothering defensive press fueled the offense which took Western by surprise. The second half remained more competitive as Western began to figure out the press. However, in the fourth quarter our Huskies kept their composure and made enough plays down the stretch for the win 42-37.”
Coach Heuer added, “For the championship game against the Carmel Greyhounds, the Huskies started off slow with a 9-5 deficit after the first quarter. However, after a 22-point second quarter, the Huskies never looked back and took home the championship with a 49-38 win. It was a great season for the sixth-grade boys team. They improved greatly and the team played as one.”
