Deadline extended to raise $20,000 for summer lunches, tutoring, mentoring, clothing . . .
Noblesville Youth Assistance Program has extended the deadline for its first fundraising effort. Individuals and companies that wish to sponsor or donate to its programs have until Friday, April 27 to be recognized at Noblesville Schools Shining Stars event to be held May 2 at the Hamilton County 4-H Fairgrounds.
The non-profit agency founded in 2012 has targeted $20,000 as its goal for the fundraiser.
Donations of all amounts are encouraged. Sponsors who donate to NYAP at the $1,000, $5,000 or $10,000 level will be recognized during Shining Stars where 10 students will be honored for making an extraordinary academic improvement after overcoming adversity, tragedy or a significant obstacle at home or in school.
“We’re giving extra time for donors to step up and help us meet the needs of at-risk kids in the Noblesville community,” said Matt Nelis, president of the NYAP board of directors. “We appreciate any support we can get to fund these critical programs that allow kids to thrive.”
With two full-time staff members, Noblesville Youth Assistance Program currently supports 140 children ages 3-17 by tapping into area resources. In 2017 alone, NYAP successfully:
- Served 8,000 meals during the summer in a partnership with Hamilton County Food Bank
- Provided one-on-one tutoring and mentoring for 105 students
- Offered summer camp opportunities to 48 students.
