Sheriff’s Office seeking candidates for Merit Deputy

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is now accepting applications for the position of Merit Deputy Sheriff. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age (no upper age limit) with a high school or equivalency diploma and at least one of the following: 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university; two years military experience; and/or two years law enforcement experience (including Corrections and Reserve).

In addition, applicants must have no Operating While Intoxicated convictions in the last five years and no illegal drug use in the past three years as well as no felony or domestic violence convictions. Additional requirements and information are found at hamiltoncounty.in.gov/595/Recruitment.

Hamilton County offers a competitive benefit package including medical/dental/vision insurance, retirement pension, paid time off as well as holiday/sick/comp days, 12-hour shift schedule and take-home vehicle. Base salary starts at $48,900 with lateral transfers eligible for a starting salary up to $57,000.

Physical Agility Testing and Written Aptitude Testing will take place on Saturday, Aug. 18 at the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office. Only those submitting applications will be allowed to test.
