Hamilton County Sheriff-elect Dennis Quakenbush released this statement following his victory in Tuesday’s general election:
“I have been honored to serve on the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department for over 16 years and, during that time, as your patrol commander for almost eight years. With that, I am humbled to have received the news that I will be your next sheriff of Hamilton County.
“Serving under both Sheriff Doug Carter and Sheriff Mark Bowen has played a major role in preparing me to step in and continue the great progress our county has experienced. I am looking forward to building on the successful programs of the sheriff’s department and leading the deputies, corrections officers and civilian staff who have collectively made Hamilton County one of the safest counties in the United States.
“Over the past year, I have had hundreds of volunteers come forward and help the “Push For Quakenbush.” It is difficult to put into words just how much this means to my family and me. Thousands of hours have been volunteered on my behalf and I couldn’t be more thankful.
“The future is bright for Hamilton County. We live in one of the best places to live in the United States and our great citizens play a great role in that. I asked, vote for me to help keep our county safe, efficient and thriving and Hamilton County listened. I do not take this responsibility lightly and once again thank those who have made this possible.”
