Sheridan Community Schools played host to a glow-tastic experience last week. The K-12 Glow Show occurred May 1 and turned the halls into a gallery of creativity. The event put on display artwork from students across the district. It featured pieces from throughout the school year that the art teachers thoughtfully selected.

Art teachers – Brooke Garrard (SHS), DeAnna Gipson (SMS), and Madeline Sweger (SES) – select the standout works from a variety of classroom projects that highlight student creativity, effort and skill.

Besides presenting various projects that showcase the talent throughout the school year, a highlight of the show was the “Glow Show.” These pieces literally glowed as the lights were dimmed throughout the displays. This helped show off the “glowing” features of the pieces.

Another key event on the art show was the People’s Choice vote. Visitors were invited to cast their votes for their favorite piece from each school. This friendly competition encouraged students to push their creativity and take pride in their work. This year’s winners were Avenly Kinkead (second grade), Bryn Doty (seventh grade), and Chloe Wright (10th grade). Congratulations to these talented artists.

The Glow Show was not just an art exhibit, it was a showcase of imagination and hard work. Thank you to the students who shared their extraordinary work, the teachers who guided them, and to everyone who attended and supported. Sheridan continues to shine and “glow.” Bravo!
