Sheridan Youth Assistance ready to make greater impact this year

Because of community supporters, the Sheridan Youth Assistance Program (SYAP) is currently serving 22 percent of students at Sheridan Community Schools.

Some of the highlights from 2021 include:

  • 12 students worked in the summer employment program
  • 15 uninsured or underinsured students received mental health counseling
  • 21 students received after school care
  • 47 students had a community or peer mentor
  • 50 students had a camp experience
  • 85 students received tutoring services
  • 100 students were able to participate in an extracurricular activity
  • 200 students received school supplies
  • 375 individuals received holiday assistance
