Sheridan talent show

Editor’s Note: The Sheridan Student Column is brought to readers by Sheridan High School’s 10th grade English class, taught by Abby Williams.

On Nov. 16, Sheridan had its talent show, and it was mostly good. A majority of the acts involved singing, but there were some acts that were unique. There were 16 acts in total, and overall, all of them were good. However, there were a few acts that stood out above the others.

A majority of the acts involved singing and playing instruments. Some songs that were played included “Riptide,” “Rly Don’t Care,” “War of Hearts,” “Lovely,” “Just Breathe,” “My Way,” and many more.

One act that stood out was by Devyn Pewarski, who is in eighth grade. She did an impression of Bob Ross that I thought was excellent. She dressed up as Bob Ross and had a painting as a prop. She even painted happy little trees and beat the devil out of her brush. Overall, she was my favorite act, and I think that she should have won.

Another act that I think stood out was one performed by senior Joey Strandberg. His act was impressions, and I think that they were good. His impressions included Gandalf, John Travolta, Gollum, an announcer, and more. All of his impressions were impressive, and he was a good non-singing act.

Another notable act was put on by eighth-grader Anna Knochel. She had three members of the audience select a subject, location, and what the subject was doing, and then drew it. She drew it throughout most of the talent show, as it takes longer than one act to draw a picture. The final result was decent, and I think that she was one of the better acts that went.

One act that was more interesting than good was put on by Zac Bayless, a sophomore. His act was a magic show. His magic wasn’t overly good, as they were mostly cheap parlor tricks, but the way in which he presented it was very funny, and overall, I think that he was better than most of the singing acts.

In the end, Norah Stites placed third with her singing act, Colton Sebastian was second with his excellent performance on the piano, and there was a tie for first. The tie was between members of the seventh-grade band playing The Addams Family theme, led by Mr. Cronin, our band director, dressed as Uncle Fester, and Lucy Cooper, both of which performed music as their acts.

Personally, I think that Devyn should have won, as I really enjoyed her Bob Ross performance, as it was very accurate to Bob Ross himself.
