The Sheridan basketball teams split a Hoosier Heartland Conference doubleheader Friday night at Taylor.
The Blackhawks girls overwhelmed the Titans 67-11. Sheridan led 26-2 after one quarter; Kenzie Garner went off for 21 points during that period. The ‘Hawks outscored Taylor in all four quarters, leading 43-6 at halftime. Nova Cross had eight points in the second quarter.
Garner finished the game with 28 points, while Chaney Smith added 14 points.
In the boys game, Sheridan fell 64-53. The Titans jumped out to an 11-point lead after one quarter, and that margin held for the remainder of the game. Taylor led 29-20 at halftime.
Trent DeCraene scored 20 points for the Blackhawks, including four 3-pointers. Caleb Wright added 15 points and also made four steals.
The Sheridan girls finished conference play 5-3 and the regular season 13-8. They travel to University next Friday to take on the host Trailblazers in the Sectional 43 semi-finals.
Sheridan’s boys are 2-5 in the HHC and 8-8 overall. They host Herron Thursday.
