FOREST CITY, Iowa – Before even throwing a pitch this season, the Warrior softball team is bolstering their bullpen for coming seasons with the addition of a standout pitcher from Indiana.
Warrior head coach Lexy Determan is pleased to announce that Sheridan High School senior Breanna Bouse has signed a Letter-of-Intent and will join the Waldorf softball program as a freshman for the 2019-20 academic year.
“We are happy to have Bre join us next fall,” Coach Determan said, “we know she will join us ready to work hard.”
Bouse, a 5-foot-6 right-handed pitcher and first baseman from Sheridan, is a three-year starter for the Blackhawks and was named All-County and All-Hooise Heartland Conference honorable mention for the 2016-17 season.
“It means so much to me to finally have all of my hard work and determination pay off,” Bouse said of signing to play college softball. “I am also so thankful to Coach Determan and Waldorf for the opportunity.”
During her junior season in seven games in the circle for the Blackhawks, Rouse went 2-4 with a 4.12 ERA.
“Bre’s love for the game really shows, so we are excited to see where that will allow her to go,” Waldorf’s coach said. “She looks to improve herself in all aspects of the games, and we are excited to help her grow.
“She will be a great addition to the team and someone who will flourish in the entire Waldorf community,” Determan added.
That Waldorf community is one of the main things that attracted Rouse to the small college in northern Iowa.
“I chose Waldorf University because I feel at home there,” she said. “I am use to the size of the campus, and also everyone is super friendly and so willing to help, no matter what.”
