Loretta Sutherland, President of the Sheridan Public Library Board of Trustees, has announced the hiring of Sheridan resident Kim Riley as the library’s new director.

Riley assumed her new position Aug. 11 after serving since January as the Interim Director. She has served as the Assistant Director at Sheridan for the past 12 years and has been with the library since 2001.

Riley earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from Franklin College and her library certification from the University of Wisconsin.

Riley says she is looking forward to continuing to work with the staff, trustees and the community. She also says she is enthusiastic about creating a vision for how the library can best serve and adapt to the evolving needs of the community.

In her free time, Riley says she enjoys reading and spending time with her family, especially her two grandchildren.

Even while the library was closed due to COVID-19, Riley was been busy preparing the library for re-opening and transitioning the Sheridan Public Library to become an Evergreen library to better serve its patrons.

“I look forward to working with the community and seeing Sheridan and the Sheridan library grow,” Riley said.
