Much to the surprise of the Sheridan Historical Society, the museum on Main Street recently won the third-place ribbon for its Christmas decoration efforts. It was a surprise because the Society decorators were not even aware there was a contest, and they were only about half done with the decorating.

You know, sometimes you just get lucky, and we want to express our thanks to the Main Street Committee for honoring us. And congratulations, too, to the first and second place winners.

We have since completed the full Christmas decorating, and if you have an opportunity to drive by the museum after dark, you will find us all decorated and lighted up for the season. We don’t like to brag, but we think we have done a rather good job for our first year. We plan to start our decorating earlier next year in hope of capturing first place.

The Sheridan Historical Society’s Stephenson Family Cultural Center and Museum is open from 1 to 4 p.m. on Tuesday and Friday afternoons. We can also be open by special arrangement at other times by calling (317) 758-5054 during our open hours and making an appointment. The Museum is located at 315 S. Main St. in beautiful uptown Sheridan, just on the country side of Hamilton County. We invite you to come by and visit with us and see our special displays.
