The Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) has announced that Sheridan High School has maintained its identification as a performance-qualified high school for the 2023-2024 school year.
IDOE implemented this valuable recognition to honor and distinguish schools that have consistently demonstrated exceptional performance and achievement in various educational areas. By granting this prestigious title, the IDOE acknowledges the commitment and efforts of these schools in providing an outstanding learning environment for their students.
The primary criterion for achieving the High-Performance High School Designation is academic excellence. Schools must exhibit sustained high achievement across multiple indicators, including standardized test scores, graduation rates, and college readiness measures. By meeting or surpassing these benchmarks consistently, Sheridan High School has established itself as an educational leader in the state.
Apart from academic excellence, the High-Performance High School Designation also recognizes schools that foster a positive and inclusive school climate. Performance-qualified high schools meet certain established criteria which allows for flexibility in administration and instruction. This flexibility helps to provide curriculum, instruction, programs, and educational innovations that drive student engagement and achievement.
Sheridan High School earned this designation by being placed the highest performance and improvement category by the Indiana Department of Education and has continued to hold onto the designation.
