Submitted by Sheridan Community Schools
Sheridan High School announces a partnership and naming of its newly constructed softball field as Godby Home Furnishings Stadium, in recognition of the generous sponsorship from The Godby Family and Godby Home Furnishings.
Jim and Jeff Godby and the Godby family have been steadfast supporters of Sheridan and its schools for decades. This partnership exemplifies their commitment to investing in the local community and fostering opportunities for Sheridan’s student-athletes.
“Godby Home Furnishings has been a part of Sheridan’s story from the very beginning,” Superintendent Dr. Dave Mundy said. “It’s fitting that their name will be on our new softball facility and help us build on our overall community heritage and pride.”
The naming of Godby Home Furnishings Stadium celebrates not only the family’s contribution but also the historical roots of their business, which began in Sheridan. This partnership underscores the importance of strong community connections and support for education and athletics.
Sheridan High School is grateful to Godby Home Furnishings for the many years of generosity and dedication in supporting generations of Blackhawks.
The new softball field will serve as a premier facility for Sheridan’s athletes and the community. The field will continue to honor its legacy name, Al Youmans Field, in tribute to Al Youmans, a long-time principal and influential figure in the Sheridan community. A dedication of the Stadium will be held in the spring, where Sheridan will celebrate the Godby family and the opportunities this partnership brings to Sheridan students.
